Projektkontext

Context

The use of digital media and newest technology is by now fully integrated in our today’s society. New technical applications help us to make new fields quite easily accessible and to cope with them; plus they simplify processes. Nowadays one cannot think of a life without apps, there is an evident proof of the use in nearly all fields and situations. The cultural (heritage) field, which is constantly looking for new ideas and new forms of cultural mediation, has already understood the digital age’s meaning.

Objective

The project “DORA – DonauRaum App Award“ has the objective to make it possible to experience the cultural and touristic meaningful Danube Region in an innovative way by using newest technology.

Competition

In order to pursue this objective, a competition is organized by the two project partners Danube Office Ulm/Neu-Ulm and MFG Innovation Agency Media and Creative Industries. Young talents ideally from the Danube region are invited to submit their idea of an app and a first prototype or concept. A high-level jury will judge the applications and choose the best ideas.

Contribution to the Danube Region Strategy

The Danube region is one of Europe’s most variegated regions. Numerous nations live here under different social and political conditions, and with various traditions and cultures. This unique variety offers a lot of chances for initiatives to connect people and nations along the Danube.

Besides economic and structural integration, the Danube region strategy aims to have a positive impact on the people’s prosperity, employment and education. By the use of the strategy the Danube region should become one of Europe’s most attractive regions.

The project contributes to several priorities of the Danube region strategy:

  • To develop the Knowledge Society (research, education and ICT)
  • To support the competitiveness of enterprises and to build cluster
  • To invest in people and skills
  • To promote culture and tourism

The project builds on experiences at national and international level that the MFG and Danube Office Ulm/Neu-Ulm have made with a variety of project partners among others along the Danube.
